In France...
Today has been an extended journey of tube and train and plane and bus with the usual boredom and hanging around in between. I am now sitting looking out at a very French looking church on a rather tired looking square beneath an overcast grey sky (nevertheless it is more inviting than the grey and drizzling London that I left some hours ago). This is Bayonne, southern France, and I am round the corner from the station that I hope will take me to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port tomorrow morning and the start of my walk. I say 'I hope' because there seems to be a spate of train strikes here at the moment and no one seems to know exactly what tomorrow will hold as far as transport goes. But that is tomorrow’s issue. Tonight I will eat, re-pack my bag to best suit walking rather than air travel and relax. Oh, and try and find out the chances of getting a train in the morning.....
