Day 9 - Logroño

Today we had a rest day. We have been walking for seven days now and as we are in a bigger town it seemed a good place to recover. On top of this Keith wanted to check his knee out, which has been playing up and which required a visit to the local hospital (it proved to be nothing serious), and there was washing and admin to be done. First job though was to find accommodation for the night; despite the size of the town beds seemed to be in short supply and we ended up having to move ourselves to a neater little hostel nearby.

It is surprising how quickly the day slipped by. In fact time has generally been something that I have now lost track of. I don't readily know how long I have been here or what day of the week it is. It is only the 'day I get to Najera' or the 'day I catch up with and meet Robert and Greg'; days are marked by what I am doing and not where they may lie on the weekly cycle. It is quite liberating in a way. It is more or less the same with the time during the course of the day; knowing the hour for departing in the morning and for meeting friends are the exception but for me, while walking, a watch has no place in the day.

Tomorrow, whatever day of the week it is, the journey continues...
